Old Rust Stain On Carpet

Old rust stain on carpet. I started with this rust stain that was made from the iron table. So i squeezed a puddle of bottled lemon juice onto the stain and let it sit for about 5 minutes per the instructions. Getting the stain out depends a lot on containing the stain in the first place. I let the carpet dry for about 8 hours and then i went back to what was left of the stain with a wet cloth to soak up any remaining vinegar and then dried it as best i could with a dry cloth. Let the solution sit on the carpet for a minimum of 30 minutes to overnight. Remove any source of the rust stain if it came from the legs of a piece of furniture move it elsewhere. Pour the ammonia and water mixture directly onto the rust stain.

The reddish hue can spread around and sets in deeply to the fibers fundamentally changing their coloring. If you do not have a spray bottle carefully pour the liquid on the spot. Let this sit for about 5 minutes. Then i blotted up the lemon juice with a white towel.

The rust stain should start to disappear. Apply dish soap on a sponge and blot it directly onto the stain.
